Math News
The week before Winter Break, we tested on multiplying multi-digit numbers. Tests looked pretty good! They will be sent home this Thursday. This week, we started on Topic 7--multiplying by 2-digit numbers. It would be helpful to have your child work on their fluency as often as possible so that they won’t forget their multiplication facts.
Don’t forget that you can access your child’s text book at www.pearsonsuccessnet.com Their username is their school number id and the password is richland2.

Science News
The week before Winter Break, we reviewed all of our astronomy topics so far and ended the week with Astronomy Jeopardy and a test. The tests were taken electronically and I emailed their scores to them over the break. We will be doing some more astronomy this week that includes some type of research project that will be done in class.

Welcome back parents and students. In ELA and Social Studies our focus will be “cause and effect relationships” Our reading selection is “My Brother Martin” in Treasures. There will be a quiz on this reading selection on Thursday. Students will have a reading log this week that will be due on Monday, January 11, 2016. Students are expected to turn in this assignment on the due date which is noted on the reading log unless the student is absent on Monday. Beginning with the reading log due Monday, if it is turned in late, 5 points will be deducted from the grade for each date that it is late.
