Math News
We are finishing up Objective 1--Place Value and Rounding. We will review on Monday and take the Unit test on Tuesday. To study, students can refer back to their notes in their math journals as well as any of the videos that they have watched for this objective. They can access these videos using their checklist in Google Classroom.
Wednesday we will begin our new unit--addition and subtraction. We will move through this unit a little faster and hopefully finish in about a week and then move on to multiplication and division.
Don’t forget that the homework packet is given the first day of the week and is due no later than Friday. Students can also use ALEKS to practice at home if they would like. They will need to get their username from me before they log in the first time. This is a great computer program that helps to review all math concepts.
Science News
We are tracking the weather this next week. We are comparing the predicted weather of the tv weather forecasters to our weather measurements. Next week we will graph those results to show the difference in predictions and actual measurements.
Language Arts News
In reading and social studies students are learning how to highlight or underline key information to help them with their study skills.

MAP TESTING WILL BE NEXT WEEK! We will be administering the MAP tests on Monday and Wednesday. This is a computerized test that your child will take in class that will give us a great idea of where they are and we can set goals for where we think they can be by the Spring administration of MAP. Please make sure that your child is at school on time those days and that they have eaten breakfast. We will begin right after related arts. Monday will be the ELA test and Wednesday will be the Math test.
We hope you are having fun selling Yankee Candle Products. It is fun seeing students walking around with their Emoji necklaces.
Interims will be available on Parent Portal on Thursday, September 15th. Make sure to log in that day and check on your child’s grades.
If you haven’t already done so, please fill out the Benson/Cave Contact information Google form (click here) so that we have your most current phone numbers and email addresses.
