Math News

We have finished our measuring unit!  Yay!!!  Next week we will start topic 6--Multiplying by 1-digit numbers.

I enjoyed seeing the creativity of many students as I reviewed the Black Friday projects.  Some of them are going to make great business people one day!  A few sample store ads may be found under the “Student Work” tab at the top of the blog.

Don’t forget that you can access your child’s text book at www.pearsonsuccessnet.com  Their username is their school number id and the password is richland2.

Science News

We have learned about the constellations this past week as well as how the Earth revolves around the sun as it rotates daily.  We have completed a few activities to show this with “Mystery Science.”  I have attached the videos to our Google Classroom.  Your child should be able to access them if they want to review them again or if they missed class that day.

Moon calendars are due next week on  December 8th.  If your child has missed a night, they can go to the following website to see the moon for that night.  http://www.moonconnection.com/moon_phases_calendar.phtml

Language Arts News
In reading next week students will read a fantasy entitled “Dear Mrs. LaRue” and learn about writing a persuasive essay. There will be a test on this story on Thursday. Students can use their textbook with the test for the comprehension questions.  Please encourage your student to write the correct page number where they find the answer in the story beside the question to earn extra credit points. Many students rush and don’t take advantage of the opportunity to get the extra credit points.

Social Studies News
In social studies we will learn about the Middle Colonies and Southern Colonies.  Students will have an opportunity to take a virtual field trip to Colonial Williamsburg to learn about life in the middle colonies and examine different trades or colonial jobs.

Fourth Grade News

Interims were sent home yesterday.  Please make sure to sign these and return no later than Monday.

Our Brattonsville field trip has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 15th.  We will leave at 8:00am so your child will need to be at school between 7:30 and 7:45.  If they are normally a bus rider in the morning, please bring them to school that day.  We will be back in time for normal dismissal, so they can ride the bus home if that is their normal mode of transportation.

Pencil Project

We need your child to have headphones or earbuds in class everyday. We use them every day.  They also need them every time we go to the computer lab.  Please make sure your child brings them to school everyday.
