Math News

I hope students were able to use some of their time out of school to study some multiplication strategies and/or catch up on any missed work on their checklist.  Remember, they always have access to their checklist in their Google Classroom in case they are ever absent or get behind.  We will review today and tomorrow.  A study guide will be sent home today that has sample questions that will be like the test questions.  The test will be on Wednesday.  The test will be on multiplication and division.  It will also include prime and composite numbers and factors and multiples.

I will not give out a new homework packet this week since we didn’t have a full week of school last week and because I will be giving out a study guide tonight for homework.  The homework packet from last week will be due on Thursday of this week.  Students can also use ALEKS to practice at home if they would like.  They will need to get their username from me before they log in the first time.  This is a great computer program that helps to review all math concepts.

Science News

This week we will continue to talk about precipitation and clouds.  We will be working on Lesson 3 in Chapter 2 of our Science textbooks and completing an experiment or two.

Language Arts News
Next Week in ELA next week students will read “The Astronaut and the Onion”  and continue to focus on character traits and story elements. We will have a quiz on this story later in the week.  Students should be able to access the Treasures book online with the same username and password that they use at school.

Recently students were given their reading range,  There are many times during the ELA period and school day for students to read independently.  Students will be expected to read at least 2 books per week using  the Big Universe Online Reading Program with the following filters -quiz concept, key ideas and details’; then select a book to read with their reading range using the ATOS (on selected books).

Social Studies News
Next week in Social Studies we will study Spanish Explorers beginning with Christopher Columbus.  Students will learn about the Columbian Exchange and learn about other Spanish explorers who made trips to the America after Christopher Columbus.  Students will also complete a classroom review on Spanish Explorers.
