Math News

We are ready to take our Unit 3--Multiplication and Division test.  We will be taking the test on Wednesday.  Most everyone is up to date on their checklist.  Everyone should be completed with Objective 3 by Monday morning.  They cannot take the quick check at home, but can do everything else at home if needed.  They can take the quick check during homeroom Monday morning and then be ready to complete Objective 4 in class on Monday and Tuesday.

I sent home a study guide this weekend.  They do not have to work on it, unless they want to start studying and/or know that Monday and Tuesday nights they will not have time.  The plan is that Monday night they complete the front and we go over in class Tuesday and Tuesday night they complete the back and we go over it on Wednesday before we take the test.  They will then turn it in before the test and that will be their homework packet for the week.  That’s right--there will not be a normal homework packet going home this week--just the study guide due by Wednesday.

If you still need to join Seesaw, please click here and follow the directions.
I will be putting an ALEKS grade in the gradebook on Monday morning.  Students should have at least 10 topics mastered within the last 2 weeks.

Science News

Students worked on their Wild Weather reports all week in class.  The Breaking Report was turned in Wednesday and I have uploaded a picture of them into Seesaw.  We are working on the video using Screencastify.  Students are creating a Google slide with a background and a slide with pictures of what they need to prepare for their storm.  They can then use screencastify and record themselves reading their report.  When they are complete, we will upload them into Seesaw as well.  A few have finished and I have loved watching them--I know you will too!

This next week we will complete our last lesson in our weather unit on climate.  We will take a final weather test around the 24th.  There will be a study guide for this final test available closer to the test date.

ELA News
Free vector graphic: Dog, Pet, Animal, Tired, Panting - Free Image ...Next week students will test on Because of Winn Dixie. Afterwards, students will respond to a Text-Dependent Analysis - referring to the text. Have your child think about the title of the book. Why was the title appropriate?

What you can do at home to help your child be successful:
  • Check out Because of Winn Dixie from public library for your child to reread at home
  • Discuss What Your Child is Reading and help them complete weekly Reading Logs which are due each Friday - there is a space for parent signature which lets me know you’re checking
  • Find Reasons to Write outside of the Classroom
  • Play Educational Games/Watch Educational Videos - LEXIA can be used at home

Social Studies News

Students will test on Native Americans on Wednesday! Please refer to notepages in binder, social studies journal reflection sheets, and presentation in Google Classroom.

Remember:
  • Students can access Google Classroom at home. All presentations and special links are posted there as references. Students may use these references when studying and completing weekly RAP questions. Some links are interactive games and videos!
  • RAP Questions are assigned every Thursday and it is highly encouraged that students use notes to complete. Social Studies journals will come home on Thursday.
  • A parent study guide has been issued for your personal use (so you can help your child if for some reason they are missing information or you aren’t exactly abreast on your history!)
