News from the 4th Grade

Math News
We have been working hard this week multiplying multi-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. We will take the topic 5 test on Wednesday, November 7th. This will be after we are off for Election day, but students will have all the tools to study with and should use that extra time to review for the test.
Please continue to have your child practice their multiplication facts. It is necessary for them to know their facts in order to continue multiplying larger problems. Multiplication.com is a fun website that has all kinds of games that will help. Also a deck of cards is great for practicing facts as well.
Don’t forget to check out the Google Classroom “live” calendar. It is up to date with all tests and/or assignments. Just in case you’re having trouble getting into Google classroom, try this link to see the calendar.
Please have your students complete at least 5 ALEKS topics each week. If your child forgets their ALEKS username and password, please let me know. It is taped in their math journal, but I can look it up and send it by email to you so you can have it too. I am allowing them to get a maximum of 10 bonus points each week. This means that they can do 15 topics a week and receive their 5 points for a 100% and then 10 points for extra credit.
Science News
We have ended our Weather Unit. Monday we will start our next unit on Space. I will collect Science journals on Monday to grade for all of the weather content. I have uploaded into Google classroom a sheet with what I will grade in the journal. I encourage all students to make sure their journal is ready to turn in Monday. The sheet is also linked here for your easy access to see what is needed for the journal.

BHE Golf Classic
The BHE Ed. Foundation is hosting a golf tournament on Monday, November 5th. There will also be a silent auction event that evening for those that are interested. The Ed. Foundation recently granted Mrs. Benson with some money to provide more flexible seats for her classroom. The students are loving the new seats. We are very grateful to the Ed. Foundation for helping our classroom. Below is another picture of students enjoying some of our new seats.
